Last updated: July 15, 2026 · Effective date: May 4, 2026
These Terms govern the conditions of use of the cosmetic ingredient analysis and information service provided by Beauty Dupe (the "Service"), as well as the rights and obligations of users and the operator.
This English version is provided for convenience only. In the event of any conflict, the Korean version prevails.
Article 1 (Purpose)
The purpose of these Terms is to set out the matters necessary for users to use the Service. By accessing or using the Service, a user is deemed to have agreed to these Terms.
Article 2 (Definitions)
- "Service": Refers to all information services provided at Beauty Dupe (https://beauty-dupe.com), including cosmetic ingredient analysis, value-for-money alternative recommendations, and magazine and ingredient-encyclopedia content.
- "User": Refers to a person who uses the Service in accordance with these Terms.
- "Member": Refers to a user who has signed up and holds an account.
- "AI Analysis": Refers to the function that uses an artificial intelligence model to generate estimated analysis results from the cosmetic information entered.
- "Paid Subscription Service": Refers to premium features provided through recurring payment in addition to the free service.
- "Content": Refers to all text, images, designs, and code posted on the Service.
Article 3 (Effect and Amendment of the Terms)
These Terms take effect by being posted on the Service screen. The operator may amend the Terms when necessary, and any amended Terms will be announced through a notice within the Service at least 7 days before the effective date (or at least 30 days before in the case of amendments unfavorable to users).
If a user continues to use the Service after the effective date of the amended Terms, the user is deemed to have agreed to the amended Terms.
Article 4 (Provision of the Service)
The operator provides the following services.
- AI ingredient analysis based on entered cosmetic product names and full ingredient lists
- Value picks verified by full-ingredient comparison (verified dupes)
- Comparative analysis of the ingredients and effects of two products
- A step-by-step routine builder where you pick the products for each step
- Ingredient dictionary and magazine content
- User submission of full ingredient lists and reflection into our data after review
- Other information services determined by the operator
Core services such as cosmetic ingredient analysis and comparison are provided free of charge and may be used without signing up for membership. In addition to the free service, the operator may provide a separate paid subscription service, which is governed by Articles 7 and 8. The operator may change or suspend part or all of the Service as needed for operational or technical reasons.
Article 5 (Use of the Service)
The Service is provided on a 24-hour basis in principle, but may be temporarily suspended in the following cases.
- During system inspection, replacement, or maintenance
- In the event of force majeure such as natural disasters, power outages, or communication failures
- In the event of a failure of third-party services (such as the OpenAI API or Cloudflare)
- When normal operation is difficult due to a surge in usage or similar reasons
Article 6 (Obligations of the User)
When using the Service, the user must not engage in any of the following acts.
- Entering or misappropriating another person's information or content without authorization
- Automated bulk requests, hacking, or reverse-engineering attempts that interfere with the operation of the Service
- Entering content that violates laws, public order, or good morals
- Infringing the intellectual property rights of the operator or a third party
- Commercially using information obtained through the Service without the operator's prior consent
Article 7 (Paid Subscription Service)
In addition to the services provided free of charge, the operator may provide a paid subscription service that offers premium personalization features. Core features such as cosmetic ingredient analysis and comparison remain free regardless of whether a user subscribes.
- Disclosure at signup: On the subscription screen and in these Terms, the operator clearly states (1) that this is a paid recurring-payment contract, (2) the payment amount and billing cycle, and (3) the cancellation and refund terms.
- Fees and payment: The subscription is a monthly recurring payment processed through the payment gateway PortOne, using a billing key linked to Toss Payments (card) or KakaoPay (easy-pay). The first payment is charged immediately when the subscription starts, and payment is then made automatically each month using the same payment method. The specific fee follows the amount shown on the subscription product page.
- Automatic renewal and fee changes: The subscription renews and is charged automatically each month until the user cancels. If the operator raises the fee or changes the payment conditions, the operator gives notice of the change (price, payment method, and cancellation method) at least 30 days before it takes effect and obtains the user's consent. If the user does not agree to the change, the subscription is not renewed.
- Cancellation: A user may cancel the subscription at any time from My Page (account management). Once cancellation is requested, recurring payment stops from the next scheduled billing date. The cancellation function is provided in an easy-to-find location, and the operator does not obstruct cancellation or repeatedly discourage it.
The specific feature set, fee, and launch timing of the paid subscription service are announced on the subscription product page and through notices within the Service. The paid-subscription provisions in this Article and Article 8 apply from the date the paid service launches.
Article 8 (Withdrawal and Refunds)
- Full refund within 7 days: If a user cancels the subscription within 7 days of the first payment date, the user may receive a full refund of the amount paid. Once the refund is processed, subscription access ends immediately.
- Cancellation after 7 days: If a user cancels after 7 days from the first payment date, recurring payment stops from the next billing cycle, and the already-paid current month remains available until the end of its period. In this case, no partial refund or penalty applies to the current month.
- Operator fault or service defect: If the service differs from what was advertised or agreed, or if the user cannot use the service due to causes attributable to the operator, a refund is made in accordance with the relevant laws.
- Refund method: Refunds are processed by the same method used for payment (card payment cancellation). The operator requests the payment cancellation within 3 business days of receiving the refund request, and the card company's processing may take several business days.
- Card cancellation limitation: If the month of payment differs from the month of the refund request, a full cancellation may be restricted by the card company's policy, in which case the operator will separately guide an alternative refund method.
- Withdrawal of subscription: As a digital content service, withdrawal may be restricted under Article 17 of the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, etc. (전자상거래 등에서의 소비자보호에 관한 법률). However, the operator operates more favorably for users through the 7-day full refund above.
- Exclusion of fraudulent payment: Identity theft and fraudulent payments are excluded from refunds and withdrawal, and are handled in accordance with the relevant laws and investigative procedures.
Article 9 (Limitations of AI Analysis Results)
All AI analysis results of the Service are estimates produced by a trained artificial intelligence model and do not guarantee the exact ingredients, effects, or prices of actual products.
- The ingredients, efficacy scores, and prices estimated by the AI may differ from the actual ones. For accurate ingredient information, please always check the product packaging.
- Recommended alternatives and routines are intended for general informational purposes and do not replace medical diagnosis, prescription, or treatment.
- Skin compatibility varies greatly between individuals; if irritation or an allergic reaction occurs, please discontinue use immediately and consult a medical specialist.
- In special situations such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, or chronic skin conditions, please do not make decisions based on AI analysis results alone, and consult an obstetrician-gynecologist or dermatologist.
Article 10 (Copyright)
The copyright in the content posted on the Service (text, images, designs, and code) belongs to the operator or the rightful holder. The user may not engage in any of the following acts.
- Reproducing, transmitting, distributing, publishing, or broadcasting the content without the operator's prior written consent
- Arbitrarily processing the content to provide it to a third party or to use it commercially
However, an individual's non-commercial sharing on social media, search-engine indexing, and citation for study or research purposes are permitted, provided the source is credited.
Article 11 (Limitation of Liability)
The operator is not liable for the following matters.
- Inability to provide the Service due to force majeure such as natural disasters, war, power outages, or communication failures
- Damages arising from failures of or policy changes to third-party services (such as the OpenAI API, Cloudflare, the Naver Search API, or the Coupang Partners API)
- Damages arising from causes attributable to the user (such as incorrect input, violation of the Terms, or careless use)
- Any results, such as purchasing decisions or skin reactions, arising from errors or inaccuracies in the AI analysis results
- The user's failure to obtain the efficacy or benefits expected from information learned through the Service
The free information service provides general information about cosmetic analysis and does not provide medical, pharmaceutical, legal, or financial advice. For the paid subscription service, the operator bears responsibility in accordance with the relevant laws and Articles 7 and 8 of these Terms.
Article 12 (Advertising)
This Service may display advertisements from advertising networks, including Google AdSense. The operator is not responsible for the content or services of third-party sites displayed through advertisements.
Article 13 (Personal Information Protection)
Matters concerning the processing of users' personal information are governed by a separate Privacy Policy.
Article 14 (Dispute Resolution and Jurisdiction)
If a dispute arises between the operator and a user in connection with these Terms, both parties shall endeavor to resolve it through consultation in accordance with the principle of good faith. A user may apply for dispute mediation to the Korea Consumer Agency (한국소비자원) or the Consumer Dispute Mediation Committee (소비자분쟁조정위원회) under the Framework Act on Consumers (소비자기본법). If the dispute cannot be resolved through consultation, it shall be handled in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Korea, and the competent court shall be the court having jurisdiction under the Civil Procedure Act (민사소송법).
Article 15 (Miscellaneous)
Matters not specified in these Terms shall be governed by relevant laws or practices, including the Act on the Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce, etc. (전자상거래 등에서의 소비자보호에 관한 법률), the Act on the Regulation of Terms and Conditions (약관의 규제에 관한 법률), and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc. (정보통신망 이용촉진 및 정보보호 등에 관한 법률).
Article 16 (Inquiries)
This Service is operated for informational purposes, and AI analysis results are for reference only. Please check the product packaging for actual ingredient information, and if you have concerns about skin compatibility, please consult a medical specialist.
